mostly snowfall in the district and points north and west. let's take a look outside now with the michael & son weather could. we are looking at reagan national airport where all is fine right now but the clouds have started to build in. the current temperature is 38 degrees. the dew point is still well below freezing, so as any precipitation falls, i think it will actually become ice if it isn't already. so we are going to watch out for that wintry mix making its way toward us as we head through overnight hours and then it will start to actually fall before sunrise. so that snow mix is approaching. most of the snow will be during the morning hours on saturday. saturday afternoon we'll see pretty quick clearing but not before dumping some snow north and west of the city and then a wintry mix with mostly rain south and east of the city as we head into the afternoon as i mentioned before. it is already down to freezing in frederick, leesburg 36, gaithersburg 30, hagsers town 32 as well. all the area is also seeing dew points below freezing as i mentioned before, and as this rain makes it to

city mayor michael bloomberg called the nra statement a shameful evasion of the crisis. earlier in an interview with abc news "nightline" anchor cynthia mcfadden, bloomberg put some of the blame for gun violence at the feet of the gun lobby. the mayor wants what he calls reasonable restrictions, a ban on assault rifles and high capacity magazines. >> our society finally has woken up and said, we are going to do this whether you like it or not. >> reporter: as for putting armed security guards in schools some authorities support the concept of more police there but say there's no money to do so on such a huge scale. while the nra suggested some of the work could be done by volunteers, "the wall street journal" estimates it would cost $6.7 billion. and will it work? in some cases, perhaps. but at columbine, students were killed despite the fact armed police were there. two of the nation's biggest teachers unions were sharply critical of the nra proposal, one saying the nra is delusional. >> thanks, pierre. >>> on sunday the man who will spearhead the nra's push to put armed guards

tighter in mortgage lending.' in his work helping homebuyers find financing, michael mcauliffe has seen the mortgage process change dramatically the past few years. gone are the loose lending requirements and lax regulations of 2006. today, it is all about tougher standards and more serious oversight of every loan. 'banks made a big mistake giving out all those loans, and regulators probably weren't looking as closely as they should have been. so, now they're both making sure that the finger doesn't get pointed at them again.' to get that loan in the new year, mcauliffe says be honest about what you can afford, save for a large down payment, and don't count on that loan until all the papers are signed. 'the big thing is, don't do anything to negatively affect that credit score. they're going to check your job that day, they're going to put your credit that day. in fact, they're going to look at the appraisal to make sure it all makes sense to them. fiori remains hopeful that even in this tight-money environment, financing will ultimately come his way in the new year. mcauliffe adds that
